En la época en que se asomaba un endurezimiento del sonido de la musica tras años de rock and roll, garage, surf, soul, psicodelias y generos sin etiquetar, en las puertas de los conocidos Deep Purple y Led Zeppelin, existian bandas como los osmondos, cuya musica reflejaba esa transición.

Había una fiesta Afro-Twsit en la que no sonó ni un tema twist, sono el lejía twist, una extraña costumbre expandida por todo Barcelona, para acabar con los ruidos nocturnos. Ciudad en la que la cultura esta cada vez mas mecanizada si cabe, en la que no hay espacio para verdaderas alternativas. En 1968 el señor Barry Ryan cantanba este tema escrito por su hermano gemelo Paul, dio la vuelta al mundo, 3 millones de copias vendió. Después poco mas se supo de él. Tema largo, mas de 5 minutos, para lo que se acostumbraba a durar una cancion en la época.

Esto es garage, estos autralianos si que saben.

El rock de garage fue una forma sencilla y cruda de rock and roll creada por varias bandas de Estados Unidos a mediados de los años sesenta. Inspirados por bandas de la Invasión Británica como The Beatles, The Kinks y The Rolling Stones, estos grupos tocaban una variación del rock de la Invasión. Aunque el centro de Estados Unidos produjo muchos de los ejemplos mejor conocidos de rock de garage, había muchas bandas de este estilo originarias de la costa oeste de los Estados Unidos y de Australia.

El término "rock de garage" viene de la percepción de que muchos de sus intérpretes eran jóvenes e inexpertos, y a menudo ensayaban en un garage. La música de estas bandas era por lo general mucho menos elaborada que la música que los inspiraba, pero estaba repleta de pasión y energía. La mayor parte de las bandas utilizaban sencillas secuencias de acordes, batería agresiva, y letras pegajosas. En muchos sentidos, las bandas de garage eran las primeras de lo que sería eventualmente conocido como rock punk.

Cientos de bandas de garage aparecieron en los Estados Unidos, pero sólo unas pocas — Shadows of Knight, The Count 5, The Seeds, The Standells — tuvieron hits, la mayoría quedaron en la oscuridad.
